At MenChats, we prioritize user privacy, system performance, and community security. By not storing data indefinitely, we ensure the platform remains fast and your private interactions stay secure.
Account Deletion Policies
Guest Accounts: To keep the community active and secure, guest accounts are temporary. These accounts are automatically deleted 14 days after they are created. If you wish to keep your profile longer, please consider registering for a full account.
Unverified Accounts: When you sign up for a registered account, you must verify your email address. If an account is not verified within 7 days, it is automatically removed from our system. If this happens, you are welcome to sign up again using the same email address.
Message and Media Retention
Private Messages (PMs): To protect your privacy and ensure your older conversations do not linger on our servers, all private messages are permanently deleted after 14 days. We recommend saving any important information before this window closes.
User Media Files: Photos and videos uploaded by registered users are stored for 30 days. After this period, the files are purged from our storage to maintain optimal site speed and disk space.
Chat Room Messages: In public and private chat rooms, messages are hidden from view after 24 hours. While they are no longer visible to users, we may retain these logs for up to 30 days to comply with legal requests or safety reporting.
Why do we delete data?
Privacy First: We believe that your digital footprint should be manageable. By limiting how long data is stored, we reduce the risk of your old private content being accessed if you ever lose control of your account.
System Performance: Storing millions of old messages and high-resolution media files can slow down the experience for everyone. Regular cleanups keep the database clean and the interface responsive.
Security: If the data no longer exists on our servers, it cannot be compromised.
Note: Once data is deleted according to these timelines, it cannot be recovered by our support team. Please ensure you download any photos or copy any text you wish to keep permanently.
