To check your cam, make sure you have enabled your webcam by toggling it on, on the top right of the site. Once your webcam is enabled, you should be able to see your own camera view, just above the chat room.
Above each cam you are viewing is a small speaker icon. Click your mouse (or tap, on a tablet/phone) on the icon you are viewing, select that to lower the volume, move slider to the very bottom and it will be muted.
